Dark clad, dark haired Bolin Cook is, in spite of his looks, easy to overlook among people as he does not make much of a fuss about himself. Walking about in his own business carrying his holy symbol openly, he is often left in peace by officials as well as the underworld. But should some ignorent think of this lonely, dark wanderer as an easy victim, the scythe in his hand is often enough to warn that he is not at all what he looks like at the first glance.
He was found as an infant on the doorstep of a temple. Even then all his clothes were black. The clerics of the temple raised him and he always seemed destined to become a cleric himself. He was from the very beginning interested in the teachings of the Lord of the Dead, even as a baby he would play for hours with the holy symbol and screamed his heart out if he could not see it.
He stayed at the temple, studied and prayed and performed rituals including funerals, comforted dying people and occational went on a quest to destroy undead until he reached adulthood and well beyond that. Suddently one morning he told the prior - much to the surprise of everyone - that he was going out in the world. Nothing and noone could talk him out of that and the only answer anyone could get from him was that The Lord of the Dead has spoken to him in the night and told him to go.
In fact, the Lord of the Dead told him to go seek the Unholy Book of Unlife, which must be destroyed. In spite of the title of the book, it contains detailed information about how to create undead slaves and perhaps even worse, how to become a lich. He was told that the book has fallen in the possession of a lesser mage, who is now determined to go through with the ritual to become a lich as soon as he is powerfull enough.
So, not so long ago he picked up his few belongings and set out to find this book.
Bolin is - unlike most humans - rather indifferent to the race of the people he meet (as long as they behave themselves). They are all part of the cycle, even the long living elves. As everyone else he has a certain distrust in arcane spell casters, but that is mostly because of their power to duplicate the evil effords of the enemies of his faith: the creation of undeath and the power and willingness to perform mass-destruction.
